OPTIONS TO CORRECT BALCONY LIGHTS
Poorly directed balcony lighting can cause problems on sea turtle nesting beaches.

Shielded fixtures can reduce stray light reaching the beach.

Louvered step lighting is one of the best ways to light balconies visible from nesting beaches.

All night lighting from these homes resulted in disorientation for this tiny turtle as he tried to find the ocean. At the end his three hundred foot trek down the beach, his short life ended when he was captured by a ghost crab.

OPTIONS TO CORRECT
PARKING LOT LIGHTS
Poorly directed parking lot lights can flood light onto sea turtle nesting beaches.

Fixtures with 90 degree cutoff angles can reduce light reaching the beach.

Fully hooded floods can direct light more accurately.

Low-mounted, louvered ballard fixtures are the best way to light parking lots near nesting beaches.
