 COASTAL DUNE LAKES & RENOURISHMENT

The Tourist Development Council (TDC) in conjunction with Taylor Engineering, Inc, have budgeted line-items to ``manage" the outlets of coastal dune lakes in South Walton, as part of the beach renourishment dredge and fill project.

Budgeted for Oyster Lake is $29,200
Budgeted for Stallworth Lake is $82,600
Budgeted for Western Lake is $839,000

The proposal states ``the meandering nature of these outlets directly threaten existing coastal development in their sweep path". It states ``the meandering nature of these lake outlets have destroyed the longshore continuity of the dune system in their sweep paths and managment of these outlets is critical to ensure the long-term health of the beach system."
P.49 Walton County Long-Range Beach Management Plan

Stallworth Lake outflow is located partially on Topsail State Preserve, and partially on an undevelopable isthmus of sand.  Western Lake outflow is located on Grayton Beach State park property. Again, there are no structures.
